Yakabod is a successful, long-running software company headquartered in beautiful historic downtown Frederick MD. As we shift from our legacy Federal contracting business model to our new commercially-oriented subscription-software model, we have an exciting and challenging opportunity to rework our operations team. We’ll consider a range of skill sets, and possibly multiple hires, from transactionally-focused controller or operations manager to hands-on CFO. As we transition, the team will need to manage the full range of financial operations for multiple cost centers (including one for DCAA-compliant cost-basis projects) and corporate.

Specific Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

    Manage and execute all accounting functions including A/R, A/P, expense reports, and payroll in Unanet accounting system.

    Process monthly payroll, 401K submissions, and HSA contribution via third party providers.

  • 03

    Perform monthly closing including monthly financial statements including government rate calculations.

  • 04

    Prepare and maintain annual budgets and year-end forecasts.

  • 05

    Review/Prepare Weekly Cash Report.

  • 06

    Ensure compliance with all DCAA requirements including audits, annual incurred cost submission, provisional rates, QARs, Final Inventory Reports, etc.

    Prepare, submit, and track customer invoices, either directly or through various government contracting systems.

  • 08

    Track project-based expenditures, including reporting on milestones and managing funding increments.

  • 09

    Generate reports and analysis to support executive team strategic planning.

  • 10

    Collaborate with third party accounting partners for taxes and reviews

  • 11

    Prepare cost proposals for government contracts.

  • 12

    Maintain Unanet accounting financial software – new projects, new employees, new organizations, etc as needed.

    Review monthly Credit Card transactions and process payments.

  • 14

    Process monthly ACH payments to vendors.

Specific skills, experience & traits include:

  • 01

    Four-year degree with a major in Accounting or equivalent experience.

  • 02

    Five or more years of experience as a Controller or similar position.

  • 03

    A natural bent to operational excellence; accuracy, attention to detail, timeliness, responsiveness.

    Fluency with project-based accounting concepts and practices.

  • 05

    Experience in Federal, DCAA-compliant cost-basis contract accounting.

  • 06

    Experience with Unanet project-based cost accounting system preferred.

    Strong problem solving and analysis skills.

  • 08

    Superior communication skills both verbal and written.

  • 09

    Computer literacy including MS office Suite with an expertise in Excel.

    Ability to uphold the highest level of integrity and confidentiality in all situations.
